Permission has been given to publish details of one of the grossest pieces ot .vandalism ever experienced in the. Ean-jitikei district, whereby nearly three miles of fencing; were deliberately cut to pieces. The outrage was ctiuimitted on the night of- Saturday, September 29, the. main one affected being Mr. David I?obb, whose seven-wire t'c-itce xag cut no fewer than 340 times, so that there were something like 2380 cuts in the wires over a length of between two and a half and three' miles. ' Most of this, boundary fence followed the Rangitikei'River cliff,line, and in places whole , sections had been cut out between liie ■ postg and rolled un with slabs and thrown over the cliff. On another half- ■ jiiile the wires were cut at even* post, and then many of them were chopped into email pieces. ' Considering the present price of labour and .material, Mr. Hobb's loss is. estimated at between ,£2.io . and £$00. ■ Tu addition to the boundaries also .cut a' few 'gaps in •every one-of .Mi*, flbbb's subdivision ■fences, so that his farm was left as . practically one huge paddock. A neighbour, Mr. Mlvay Turnbull, also suffered loss, which, .though severe enough. _is light in comparison with Mr. Kobb's. His ridge fence was cut twenty' times, that is. ten gaps were cut out, after ■which the staples were drawn from the centre-posts and the cut portion of the fence allowed to fall. Two gaps were .also cut in the boundary between the farms of Messrs."Robb and M'Kay Turnbull. In addition to the destruction of • the fences, poisoned meat was laid along the whole.of.the affected lines. The perpetrator left no clue:
