The sum of 30s. ivas paid j in expenses, the borrower receiving £18 ■ 10s. Mr. Singer, for the defendant, ; stated that his client had received to : date in respect of the loan the sum of : £Is, and in consideration of the fact ; f i that the woman's husband had been kill- \ ed and she was now in distressing circumstances the company thought the '■ matter one in which it should accept the ,£lB already paid in settlement cf the whole amount due under the agreement.
