IN THE DARK DAYS OF THE STRIKE
THE SHOOTING OF FIREMAN GREEN TWO SUSPECTS RELEASED. Sydney, October 11. In connection with the shooting of the railway fireman Green on August 25, two men subsequently arrested were discharged. A man named 'l'horburn and a woman named Roe have been remanded on a charge of conspiring to sheet the charge home to the discharged men. The Crown Prosecutor alleged that the accused nut their heads together to secure the reward of £WW oil'ered in connection with the shooting.—Press Assn. At the time of shooting, the train was travelling at a fast rate- Driver Harding heard what lie believed to be two reports of a firearm, and at the same moment Green complained of being struck by something in the chest. He was subsequently removed to the hospital, where tho injuries were found not to bo serious. The bullet had penetrated the flesh of the upper left forearm near the shoulder, re-entered the left breast, and made its exit near the centre of the breast bone, making altogether four wounds. |
