DEFENCE EXPENDITURE
. . ? ,— COMMISSION MAY BE SET TIP. Reference to the heavy Defence expenditure of the country during these days was made by Mr. Parr in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Could the Prime Minister, he asked, give the House an opportunity of discussing war expenditure, or would Cabinet consider the question of setting up a Board of Control during the recess? Mr. Massey stated that if it were possible for a Parliamentary Committee to deal with thifi matter between now and thc< end of the, session tlii> Government would be very glad indeed to set up such a committee. He, however, doubted wheIlier it was possible for o Parliamentary Committee at this period of'l lie session to givo justice to the important questions affected.
