SOCIAL HYGIENE
THE BILL WILL PROCEED. In tlie- House of Representatives last night Mr. J. M'Combs tLytteltou) asked if it was the intention of the Government to proceed with the Social Hygiene Bill without giving interested organisations an opportunity to consider it. He had received a communication on the subject from a body of women in Christchurck. ■ The Minister of Public Health (the Hon. G. W. Russell) Teplied that an. assurance had been given to the Hou&e on Thursday last that no attempt would be made to rush the Bill through, but he thought a reasonable time had tw been, allowed. The approval of the Hill he had received from all over the country and the almost absolute consensus of opinion in its favour on the part or the leading newspapers certainly justified the Government going on with tlie measure. If any organisations wislwO. to make representations on the Bill the Government would sympathetically Hear any, or points or suggestions made, but he considered! the session was too tar advanced for the Bill to be hung up indefinitely. He hoped that the committee stage would be reached at an .early date.
