INCREASED CREDITS TO BRITAIN AND FRANCE. j - Ottawa, October 5. A financial conference has been, opened between Lord Reading, llr. S. H. Lever (Financial- Secretary to the freasury), Lord Northcliffe, and the Canadian Government. The objects are_ to enable Canada, to extend larger credits to Britain and France for Avar purchases, the regulation of tlie sterling exchange, and the development of Canadian shipbuilding in view of the submarine menace. It is understood that the expansion of the shipbuilding programme of Canada and the United States is contemplated—Aus.X.Z. Gable Assn.
