LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

THE SECOND DIVISION

Sir,—l aia quite in accord with the letter on tho Second Division, published in last. Wednesday's Dominion, au<l signed "A Member of the Second Division, Trentham." There lire, a number up this way who are fully in sympathy with tho opinions so well expressed in that letter, and I am glad to say that a meeting recently tailed in I'alinerston by these agitators was very poorly attended by reservists of the Second .Division. It seem* absolutely extraordiuary to mo lilat the general public have not bowied I down the miserable attitude UHc-n iip-q by these pseudo-representatives of tho Second Division. In the early ciayf, if any man with cigns of youth on him did not enlist, wo heard n great deal about and "want of potmasm, bht what about these Second Division nion? -They have been left alone .-mil ii'owed to talk, ami have gradually brought themselves into the belief thar. they alone count in the whole of Me .Dominion. . Look at the numbers of mirriad men with Tamilies, who from purely painotn: purposes, rushed to enlist as soon as possible after' war was declared. But tho question 1 want answered is: Why should these members ..f li.e Second Division expect any more consideration than certain men of tho I'irst Division who hare to go into camp, under far worse financial conditions, and vno r.ie the eoie support of aged parents? here, are heaps of such cases. 'Ye should have had the Boches in possession of Now Zealand long ago had the mm of tho Lfitish Empire generally taken .up the same stand as these few aeco.id .Division men in this Dominion. Though few in numbers they do make a deuco ot a I think and hope that most of us ia the Seconii Division are quite ready to do our bit for the Empire when tre call comes, without any "bargaining. Anyhow, I am—l am, etc., " ALSO A MEMBER OF THE SECOND DIVISION. Palmereton. North, October 4.
