Mr. C. J. Carlyon, the recently-ap-pointed secretary to the Wairarapa Racing Club, entered upon liis new duties on Wednesday last. •Mγ. E. G. Robertson, the newly-appointed carctaktsr of the course, takes up his duties next tveok. Mr. Johnson, locomotive foreman, from Tiraaru, has been appointed to « similar position at Cross Creek, in succession ■to Mr. T. Cairns, who is under orders of transfer to Taihape. Diirinc his residence at Cross Creek. Mr. Caivne lias taken a keen interest in social matters. Surgeon-Major Gtinn, of Carlerton, at present attached to an hospital ship slaff, tvlio lias been visitinp his home, left for the north on Thursday. Mr. .T. A. Connell, of West Tnrntahi, leaves next week to tnlce over the editorship of the "Grey River Argus," to which he wrb recently nrmointed.
