MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Before Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., jcsteniay, Eva Grell was convicted of being a roguo and a vagabond, in that she was found by night in Iho dwelling-house of Charles Boyes, 12 Tui Street Sub-ln-6pector M'llvoney stated that there, were nine previous convictions in the past twolvo months against the accused. She had not the strength of inind to keep away from bad associates; she was only thirty years of age, and ho urged that a period of reformative treatment should bes added to whatever sentence was imposed. Sho was sentenced to twelvo months' imprisonment, and thereafter to undergo two years' reformative treatment. . For insobriety ono first offender was fined 10s., in the alternative twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Henry Anderson, convicted of trading as a second-hand dealer without a licence, was fined 10s. and costs, with the option of eeven days' imprisonment. James A. Connor was fined 40s. and costs, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, for allowing stock to wander. For allowing a chimney to catch firo TTingato Patterson was fined ss. and costs.
CHARGES AGAINST MOTORISTS. Louis Whitcombe, for having dazzling headlights on his motor-car, was fined 20s. and costs. , For riding their motor-cycles, on the Hutt cycle track, James Dawson, John Downey, Ernest Gregory, Joseph William Preston, David Eea, and 'Bert Henry Eussoll wore each fined 20s. and costs, with tho option of serving seven days in gaol. For riding a motor-cycle with no number attached Thomas Peard was fined 20s. and costs. Thomas H. Cotter was fined 10s. and costs for driving a eiotor-ejir on the wrong side of the Hutt Road. A fine of 10s. and costs was imposed on Albert J. Dingle for riding a motorcycle without a light on the Hutt Road. ■ For leaving a motor-cycle in the streetunattended, Joseph Boucher was fined XI and costs. Gilbert Parrott wns fined 20s. and costs for riding a motor-cycle on the south side of Courtenay Place. - TERRITORIALS FINED. For failing to' attend drill Eric Flaws was fined 20s. and costs, in default twenty-one days' military detention. A similar penalty was imposed on Edward Scott, who pleaded guilty to obstructing a parade.
