Although L. Wilson has been appointed private trainer to Mr. W. Richmond, he fias not given up his jockey b■licence, and will be. seen in the saddle at Masterton and Trentham. . . As J. O'Shea is still unable to ride, another jockey will have l ° \l { or Mr. T H Luwry's horses a.t the Masterton meeting next week. C. Sinclair will be up on the two-year-old Finmark. the full brother to Estland, and L. Hewitt will rids Egypt. . . The first of the visitors have arrived at Masterton yesterday. The Gisborao.trainer O. Morso put in an appearance with Muitifual and Bjorneborg. The pair will come on to Trentham at tho conclusion of the Masterton meeting. Tho -well-known trainer George Pnoe nas been instructed to go into ■ the 01 Camp at Featherston. His apprentice jockey. T. Metealf, -is also to accompany him, as is the Otaki trainer, D. Webster. The death occurred by drowning- at Napier on Wednesday of the well-known Taradale owner, Mr. T. Moymhan. Deceased owned several horses in his day, one of the- best being the Signalman gelding Berg, who is now racing at pony meetings in Sydney. ~,,.. ~ „„ It is fully ejected that when acceptances for the New Zealand Cup are published, the name .of Desert Gold, will be missing. There is nothing amiss with the champion mare, but she has valuable weight-for-age engagements in front. 01 her, and her owner is not likely to run her in handicaps.
