AFTERMATH OF THE STRIKE SECESSION IN LABOUR POLITICS. Sydney, October 4. GAS AND ELECTRICITY RESTRICTED. Melbourne, October 4. The Navy Department has issued regulations restricting the use of gas and electricity to a few specified businesses. This will throw 500,000 people in Australia into partial Unemployment-Press Association.

The Federated Seamen's and Firemen s Union bos decided not to resume work until the wharf workers come to terms, not because of any grievance against tho shipping companies, but owing to the question of sailing with cargo loaded by non-unionists. Another meeting has been fixed for Monday. Tn tho meantime, efforts are being mado to settle the wharf trouble—Press Assn.
