EAST CRICKET CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The Wellington East Cricket; Club held its annual meeting in the Y.M'.C.A. rooms last evening. Mr. F. A. Midlano presided. 'J'ho annual report slated that the club was free from debt, and hud u small amount to its credit. Appreciative reference was made, to tlio work of the scorer, Mr. Hood, who hud done a great deal to aid and encourage players all through the season. Mr. Midland had proved a captain of whom any team might have been proud, ond the club TPgretted very deeply his approaching departure for Auckland. The report anil balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of the chairman. The seconder spoke very highly of the work of the secretary, Mr. W. A. Baiter, and the meeting decided that an appreciative note should bo placed on the minutes. Mr. 'Hood presented a report embodying the results of the whole season's play. One match, lie said,, was worthy to be remembered not only by the club but by cricketers throughout New Zealand. It was that in which the East team, playing Old Boys, had scored 415 runs for, four wickets, three centuries being included in' the total. Mr .T P. Firth was re-elected president Mr. H. Collett. clnb captain', and Mr. Baker secretory and treasurer. Deep sympathy with Mr-, and Mrs. Smith in the loss of their son (a former member of the club, who fell.in action) was expressed by the meeting.
