.£38,000 REALISED IN MELBOTONB.
In nearly every instance the enemy shares which were sold at public auction at the Stock Exchange recently brouglit prices slightly above the ruling market rates; and, in every respect, the sale was a great success. Tho total sum realised was about .£38,000. There was a large attendance, and all the shares submitted were disposed of, with the exception of shares in such companies .is the Annan River, Chillagoe, Expeditionary Goldmining, Gippsland, Copper, Mount llolloy, Mungara, and Princess Royal, which are practically at a standstill. No bids were made in these few instances. The shares submitted and the prices realised are as follow: — Adelong Gold Estates, 2150 ehare3, prices realised, 16s. 6d., 175.; Ajax, 200, 13s. 71d.; Austral Siamese,-1350, Bs. 10d., 9s.
