The British Government ha-s appointed a Belgian Trade Committee to investigate the means of proniotine trade and commerce between the British Empire and Belgium. The members of the committee representing commercial and financial interests have been nominated by the bodies which they represent, at. the invitation of the Government. The commitloc will havo power to co-opt persons of experience in spoeinl mailers. The terms of reference for tlie committee are: To'inquire into all matters rela- ' tivo to trade between the British Emniro and Belgium, with a. view to increase and develop that 'trade by every desirable means. To investigate as far as possible all means to be adopted in order to attain this object, and to render assistance in regard to shipping, manufacture, imnorls, and exports, nnd Imdo generally. It shall not be part of (he duties of tho committee to foster the advancement Jf tho trade of any par-ticular-individual or firm, nor to devote its assistance lo any spooiul •. branch of trade or industry, except in relation to general principles. An office of tho committee (under the Foreign Office) lias boon established provisionally at 39 Parliament Street, S.'iV.t, to which all communications should be axlaressed.
