Sir,—With reference to the letter in your issue this morning regarding British manufacture and ■ overseas trade, may I point out to your correspondent that if iie "will refer /to page 15 of my annual report he will find the following prefatory qualification to such-criticisms; as I have had to make:—"l wish to make it perfectly' clear that this roport must of necessity deal chiefly with weaknesses in Britisu trade in New Zealand. Any criticism that may he made is not intended, nor should'it be taken •&?-be, generality applicable to British traders as a whole.
