Sir,—l am writing this at the request and on behalf of the crew rescued from our late ship, the Port JCembla." We desire to use your paper as a means ot thanking tho people of Wellington for their kindness- to .us ■ since wo arrived here. AYo are specially grateful to the local branch of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society for the kind manner' they have entertained us, also for tbe valuable and most acceptable gifts they handed to every man of us present -it the ten in their rooms, Post Office Square, last Saturday, when we were oach presented with a complete change of new warm underclothing. We wish also to thank, the local- firms who, we understand, nrovided the warm underclothing the society obtained and handed to V'B. On behalf of the crew,—l am, etc., W. J. BOWLER,, Ho'sun. /
