A great race was an- . .ticipated in the' Derby, owing to tho presence of Biplane, Thrice, and Prince Viridis. PuSllo favouritism was divided' between Biplane and Prince Viridis. The New Zealander- showed great pace. 1 After going to the front, he was never troubled, Deeley-scoring easily. and being accorded a great reception. Prince Viridis finished fourth. Norbury .'tind Ardrosgan wave greatly fancied for the Epsom, but ran -disappointingly. Colugo made', tile .pace, and Wedge was prominent at tho' distance, but was unable to stiill oif the outsider, ■Satin Bird, whose resolute challenge mado an .exciting finish.
