COLLEGE GOVERNORS
The governors of Wellington Boys' and Girls' Colleges met yesterday. There were present: Hon. ,1. G. AY. Ailken,AI.L.C. (chairman), Messrs. A. Warburlon, W H. Field, 11.1'., W. Allan,'-'and Professor Basterfield. Payments.amounting to '.£1259 ss. sd. (Boys' College .£661 13s. 2d., and Girls' College .£595 12s. 3d.) were authorised, leaving a balance of .£4359 3s. sd. A letter was read from tho Wellington Education Board asking the governors to support it in urging that tho monetary conditions on which leave is granted to the rauk and file of teachers, who .have undertaken military service, either as privates or as noncommissioned officers, should be identical with those accorded to teachers serving as commissioned officers. The chairman explained that the teachers of Wellington College werOot affected. Tlio governors decided to express sympathy with the Education Board's appeal to the Education Department. It was decided to give the teachers ot the Wellington Boys' and Girls' Colleges a war bonus this year. The amount ajlottecl is .£B2B, virion will give each teacher .£l3 lis. sd, as against' .£l3 lis. 6d. received last year;
