HARBOUR BOARD
' MONTHLY MEETING.
Messrs. C. E. Daniell, R. Fleteher, R. E.. Sinclair, R.'A. Wright, A., M'Farlane, J. G. Cobbe, J. W. M'Ewan, Jit. W. Welch, A. H. Hindmarsh, W. Cable, J. G. Harkness, C. M'A rthur, and W. Wallis were present at the monthly meetinfr of the Wellington Harbour Board, held last evening. Leave of absence w.as granted to Mr. 11. Cohen. The finance statement showed the following credits:—Current account, . J J<1,863 2s. 7d.; imprest account, .£2716 IRs. 4d.; on fixed deposit, .£60,000. Payments: Accounts and wages, .£20,987 2s. Id.'; propress payments on contracts, -£2100 3s. lOd.; salaries for September, 42927 19s. 7d. On tho recommendation of the AVharves and Accounts Committee it was decided that the board's year book be not published this year; and to grant a transfer of foreshore licence No. 92 (boat skids at Karaka Bay) from A.. C. Smith to R. J. Rainsay. A letter was received from the Financo Stinister. thanking the members of . tho board for tho interest they had taken in the. recent'war loan. ; The chairman said that lie had been unable to arrango tho deputation with the Prime Minister on tho subject of workers' homes. Mr. M'Farlane was of opinion that tho board sliould not concern itself' with' such a movement at present, as it was difficult to get building material, the pi ice of which vcas very high at the present time. In answer to a question from Mr. Cobbe the chairman 6aid that he thought it would be possible to get an interview with (ho Prime Minister on the subject in the near future.
