FOXTON HARBOUR
AN AMENDING BILL. The Local Bills Committee recommended to the House of Representatives yesterday that the Foxton Harbour Board Act, 1308, Amendment Bill Ije proceeded with, subject to the amendments made by the committee. Most Of the amendments are machinery ones. Clause 8 has been struck out and replaced by the following:— "(1) His Majesty the King may transfer, and the board may acquire, tho lands and assets described iu tho second sclicd ; ule hereto (subject as regards portions (hereof to the leases for a term of years to Levin and Co., Ltd., and to the lease on a year-to-year tenancy, determinable by. three months' notice, to the West Coast Steamship and Trading Company, Ltd.), upon payment by the board of tho sum of JESOOO, and upon payment of the paid sum the said lands and assets shall by force of this Act ves_t. in tho board for the purpose for which it is constituted.
"(2) For the purpose of this section the term 'assets' shall not bo deemed to includer-(a) The materials of any. sidin.ffl oi; the rentals or any other charges payable in respect of any sidings now laid, or which may hereafter be laid, by the Kailway Department upon the said land; or buildings, machinery!, or, structures"'erected on the portions of the said land held under lease by tho companies hereinbefore mentioned. "(3) The eart access leading to tho land leased to Levin and Co., Ltd., aforesaid, shall cease and determine on the first day of January, 1928."
