. ' THE SCALE OF RATIONS. A suggestion that the cost of maintaining Gorman prisoners should be reduced was mado by Mr. J. V. Brown (Napier), who asked the Minister of Defence if he would make sbmo attempt tb reduce the cost of the rations For the German prisoners; and if ho would mako airangemorits for Gorman, prisoners to get the-: Bum'e rations as our soldiers at a similar cost, thus saving !Ud. per prisoner per day. Sir James Allen replied that the tirstj class prisoners of war were now ishuen the same scalo of rations as the reinforcements at. -camp, whilst tho secondclass prisoners of war were issued a special scale of rations, very much less than tho scalo for roinforcements.
