MAGISTRATE'S COURT
A short sitting of the Magistrate s Court ■was held, yesterday morning, Mr. S. h. M'Oarthy, 6.M., being on the Bench. Cornelius O'Shjia, a, soainan, convicted ot using obscene'language in a public place, was sentenced to , three months imprisonment, and to he placed on board his vessel if the captain so applies. On a further charge of boing drunk 0 Slica was convicted and discharged. Tor insobriety Daniol MFarland, a Young man with a. long record." was sent to gaol for three months; Edmonds and John Smith were each fined Ms., in default seven days' imprisonment: Miohael M'Mahon and Peter Butler wore pena wed to the extent of 20s. each, in default 48 hours , imprisonment. A flrrt offender, a Japanese, was fined 10s., with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment. Patrick Kyan, a soldier, for committanp a, breach of his prohibition order, was convicted and ordered to bo handed over to the military authorities. A remand for a week for medical treatment was granted in the case of Jack loi, found helplessly drunk.
