SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE

ANOTHER DOMINION CONFERENCE.

■ A special meeting of the Central Executive of the Federated Second Division Leagues was' held yesterday afternoon for the purpose of considering the lephes made by the Minister of Defence to the questions asked in the House by members of Parliament along the lines of the proposals of the .recent Dominion conference. The replies, which had been .delayed from Wednesday last, were printedl and circulated in the House yesterday. The president of the National Federation(Mr. E. A. Armstrong) was in the chair, and in plaoing the. printed answers before the meeting, stated that from tne many letters and telegrams received from branches throughout the Dominion, it was evident that considerable anxiety, existed amon? reservists regarding the manner in whfch The league. s proposals were lilcely to be treated by the authorities. These branches looked to the Central Executive to protect thjs interests of the league, and in considering- the various Ministerial rep Ties on the points at issue, the executive-must decide whether they were justified in allowing matters & drift any further. It. was a heavy responsibility, particularly m view of the many requests they Fad received, from different leagues to call another Douiniion conference. / ~ The answers were then discussed in detail and met with • unanimous expressions of disappointment and disapproval, it being felt that the great principles upon wiicF the league's proposals nre based had no echo of sympathy in the replies as printed. After due deliberation the following resolution was car- ■ "That, in view of the absolutely unsatisfactory nature of the Ministerial replies to the questions put in the House affecting the proposals of the Second Division league, the Central Executive of the National Federation is reluctantly compelled to follow the only course left open, and immediatey oonvenp a Dominion conference of the leagues.' It was ■decided to hold the conference on Ihurs'day next, at the Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street.
