THE SEAMEN'S STRIKE

There is still no change (o report in connection with the strike of seamen on the small steamers trading out of Wellington. It is pointed out by the federation representatives, who now await Government intervention, that the industry is an essential one, that several of the boats affected are engaged in the coal trade, and that it is necessary that t.hc law of the land should be given effect to in order to bring the present unsatisfactory stato of things to an end.
