EDUCATIONAL PROJECT
NEW GIRLS' SCHOOL AT THE HTJTT. A. new boarding school for girls is to be established, shortly at the Lower Hutt by a company consisting of a number or well-known Wellington citizens. According to the registration (which was made on September 14), the company has a capital of .£SOOO, divided into 5000 shares of ,£1 each. The subscribers set out ares Mary S. C. Stowe, Ada B. Brandon, L. 1> j). Bell, 0. Beere, H. E. Leigkton, Mary'u. Greenwood, and G. E. Anson; and tho objects are "to carry on in the Lower Hntt a boarding 6chool tor the education of girls-" The new company has purchased tho freehold of the property lately occupied: bv Mr. W. A. Carmmer (and previously bv Mi' Mowbray) m Waterloo Eoad, Lower Hntt. This has four acres of well laid out grounds, and a large residence whieh is to be extended by the erection of a suita of rooms for the staff at the rear of the main building. Miss Geraltt Fitzgerald has been appointed lady principal. There is a provision in tho articles of association that no shareholdershall receive more than 6 per cent. on. the money invested. . Any profits over and above that return are to be devoted to the improvement of the school ana wounds and for the endowment of scholarships, so that it will be recognised that the venture is not a money-matong protect, but one which has for its object the provision of a so and education for prlß.
