REPLIES TO IMPORTANT WAR QUESTIONS. I (Rec. September 21, 1.30 a.m.) Paris, September 20. The Chamber voted its confidence in the Government after interpellations regarding Cabinet's war moasures and aims. Tho questions demanded a reply to tho enemy's peace manoeuvres in the shape of tho Stockholm Conference and the Papal Note. M. Painleve replied that France adhered to President Wilson's reply td the Pope. •M. Ribot (Foreign -Minister), when nsketl lo I'ultil his promise to publish the inter-Allied agreements, said that Frauco no had secret diplomacy. He was ready to reveal everything, but lie must act, in ooueert with the Allies. It was I'etrograd that asked him to defer the publication of the inter-Allied treaties. Ho concluded by reiterating tho declaration that France not merely l claimed Alsace and Lorraine, but reparation for the destruction wrought by the inhuman enemy, and guarantees for a durable poaco. In not nnsworing tho Pope's Note franco was acting in agreement with Britain, Italy, and Russia.—Reutor.
