. THE ADDEDI^O'UfiPENCE. The fact that Christchuvoh grocers ' have added 4d. to the price of eacli pound of tea in consequence of the imposition of a, tea duty of. 3d. per lb. was mentioned in the House of Representatives by 7 the Hon. D. Buddo (Kaiapoi). He said that it was about time a chock was placed on the fleecing of tho public by middlemen.. This sort of thing went on continuously, and he did not wonder that the public was complaining. . ■ The Prime Minister said he had already placed before the House a report of the Board of Trade on.this subject. Ho was entirely opposed to exploitation in any shape or form. If any member of the Houso knew of nny caso Of exploitation he would glad to receive information on the point, and to take action. Every complaint that, was made would be tho subject of inquiry.
