MUGGY WEATHER

Tho air-yesterday was distinctly heavy and muggy, but no ram . fell. The weather, in fact was an improvement on the gnsty conditions which prevailed the .previous day. The v , -i° wind had materially abated, and tho bky was much clearer. Rain fell m certain districts of the South Island. Pre sent indications point to northerly ranging from strong to gale, increasing cloudiness, and rain generally. The barometer will fall everywhere soon.
