Eupliema Wright, a girl in domestic service, while out at Oriental Bay found a gold watoh valued at £3, and. acting upon the belief that, what she found she could retain, kept the watch and had her own initials engraved on it. When approaoncd by the police she denied haying thewatcii. Mr. H. F. O'Leary, who appeared on lier behalf, pleaded guilty, and pointed out that it was not a caso of the ordinary kind of 'dishonesty, and she was a hardj working woman. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for ficntenco when called upon, and was ordered to pay tnc owner of tho watch £3. A woman appeared on a chargo of tne theft of lace valued at 6s. 10d., the Property of 0. Smith, Ltd.; also with the theft of three ribbopß valued at 3a. 4d.» the property of the D.1.0. On the application of Sub-Inspector Dew, a remand for a week, was granted. Henry Spencer Watson, for whom Mr. H. P. O'Leary appeared, pleaded, guilty, to tho theft of 20 dozen bottles, valued at £2, tho property of Edwin Thomas Taylor; 'It was tho duty of the accused to colloot bottles from places where lus employer had contracts for supplies. Mr. O'Leary stated that accused was a married man, and bis wife was in a CiClioato stato of health. He had no previous record, and to Fend him to gaol would penalise tho family. Accused was convicted and ordered to oorae up for sentence when caljed upon, and was ordered to report; to the Probation Officer once a fortnight for a period of twelve ironths. . For committing a grossly indeoent act in Adelaide Road, James Bowker was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, and on .a further charge :of drunkenness was convicted and discharged. , A fino of £5, in default two months' imprisonment, was imposed on • "William Joseph Cotter for a breaoh of his prohibition order, and he was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness. Albert Crampfon was remanded to appear at Auckland on Thursday next on a charge of forging the name of Nellie Crampton to a re-direction, order, and uttering the same to the Chief Postmaster at Auckland.

In a judgment summons case. A, Thomas was ordered to pay W.' H. J. Kuthwaite £9 Os. 6d. by instalments of ss. per week.
