On the second day tbo chief raco is the Waipipi Handicap, of 215 stvs., one, mile and a distance. For the first time for about ten years a hack hurdle race figures on the programme, it having neon allotted 150 sovs. as Btake money and run over one milo and a half. The Ladles' Purse Handicap on the second day 6hould suit this class of horse. Another new departure for tho local club. is...tho introduction of a race exclusively for two-year-olds. It iB run over four furlongs on the second day, and is worth 130 sovs. The Trial Stakes on the opening.day will, as usual, bo open to two-year-olds. The ether principal events are the Flying Handicap, of six furlongs; Opaki Welter Handicap, one mile; Telephone Handicap, five furlongs; and Final Welter Handicap/ seven furlongs, all of which have stako money "to the value of 200 sovs. each allotted to them. The rcmainins six races are set apart for hacks, run over dißtanceß of from four furlongs.to one mile. Nominations for all events (including entrance for Trial Stakes) close with the secretary (Mr. A. Hathaway) on September 21, at 10' p.m. Mr. J. L. Henrys' will declare tho first day's handicaps a. week later, and acceptances for the opening day cloocton October 5.
