KHANDALLAH DEBATING SOCIETY

The weekly meeting of the above society, held on Tuesday evening, was presided over by Hie president, Mr. ,T. H. Richardson. The subject was a debate, "That Britain Abandon Her Policy of Free Trade." The order of the speakers in the affirmative was Messrs. W. Appleton, E. Hobbs, Miss M. Sunderland, and Mr. J. rf Dale, while the negative side was taken by Messrs. D. Patterson, W. A. Patterson, A. E. Budd, and P. J. Brooker. The discussion was a most interesting one, and a considerable number of arguments were brought forward by both sides in support of their case. There were also a number of statistics quoted to show the advantage or otherwise of Free Trade. On the motion being put to the meeting tho affirmative was carried by a substantial majority.
