September 19, 8.10 p.m.) London, September 18. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "We have improved our positions slightly eastward of St. Julien. There is great reciprocal artillery activity on tho Ypres sector. Three German aeroplanes were brought ' down.' Only a few of the enomv's machines were in the air/"—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.-Eeuter. ON THE FRENCH FRONT London, September 18. A French official communique states: "After a violent bombardment south of the Ailetto the enemy entered our advanced trenches, bat was completely re. pulsed."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. September 19, 8.10 p.m.) London, September 18. A French official communique states: "There is lively artillery activity on various sectors. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.Eeuter. GERMANS BUILDING BIG AERODROMES (Eec. Soptember 19, 11.15 p.m.) Amsterdam, September 18. The -Germans are constructing aerodromes throughout Flanders, and particularly large ones aro being built at St. Denis-Wcstren. The Allies continue their raids, with good results. Several military trains were hit during the last raid, including a munitions train, which exploded, killing many.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
