ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DEATH FROM POISON. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, September 18. At the inquest on Margaret Davis, who died iu the Hospital from poisoniug, Mr. I'razer, S.M., Coroner, found that death was caused by the deceased drinking spirits of salts'. He said deceased's husband made contradictory statements to tho police, which gave rise to certain suspicions, but his statements were corroborated by other witnesses. There was nothing to show that'Davis and his vife led other than a happy life, but ho had been grossly negligent in placing spirits of salts in ft cupboard with spirits of nitre in a similar bottle bearing a similar label. ' WOMAN DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press' Association.. Diinodin, September 18. A singio woman named Maria Patterson M'Cleary, iiged 25, employed as a domestic servant at Henley, fell into the Tnieri River this morning whilo drawing water, and waa drowned. The body lias beon recovered.
