WELLINGTON AND OANTERBUKY ( SCHOOLS. That tho Association game las made great progress during the past three seaeons was evident in the attendance and the enthusiasm evinced yesterday at Kclburn Park, when Wellington schoolboys defeated Canterbury by G goals to 1. The first half ivas a splendid struggle, but in the latter stages Wellington had matters much their own way, and ran the Canterbury boye off their feet. The ground was in perfect condition and Canterbury won the toss. Wellington kicked off and made tracks for -the Canterbury goal, but the visiting backs defended well, and the ball was eoon transferred to the home half. 'Hay was very keen and fast. Wellington, gained the first corner, tho ball being placed behind. Burke was very conspicuous for Wellington, and from a well-directed pass Hyder was enabled to open the scoring for Wellington. Eoused at this reverse, Canterbury made desperate efforts to equalise, but were unsuccessful. Give-and-take play followed till Wanden scored a second.goal for Wellington. Canterbury tried hard to reduce the deficit, and after a few minutes Pillinger scored tor them with a splendid shot. Keeping up tho pressure, Canterbury were again dangerous, but Burko was' their stumbling block and the ball was soon in Canterbury's half again.
