At a meeting, of tho New Zealand Alliance executive, held last evening, great indication was expressed that in 6pito of the Dominion's need and of the people s demand for six o'clock closing of liquor bars during the war, the Government's ■proposal was for eight o'clock closing. The following resolution was adopted: "That tho executive of the Now Zealand Alliance expresses its iiuhenahon Mj4 deep disappointment that theJßiU introduced by the Government comes so far short of what has been asksd for by tho petitions of 177,000 electors of the Dominion, by resolution's from present*-: tives of nearly evejy class in the community, and supported by the deliberate judgment of the National Efficiency Board It reaffirms the demand for six pin as tho very latest hour for the closing of liquor bars. It calls inion Ml worthy citizens to express their dissatisfaction, and to use every • legitimate means to Tnduce their representatives in ; Parliament to amend the Bill in lwrmonv ; with public opinion, and with the jieeds i of the present grave national crisis. Arrangements were put in hand for a 'meeting in the Town, Hall on Surtlnv' rexl: at 8.30 p.m.. to demand sre.oclock closing as n minimum, or a referondum of thn people forthwith. Ufcliim Sprntt.
