Jho special appeal which has' been made, by tho Presbyterian Church of -N'eu- Zealand for a minimum sum of .m,IM> to add to the capital of tho Beneficiary Fund, has met with a very satisfactory response. Mr. W. H. Rose, who is conducting a personal canvass, reports that the total donations to date amount to .£14,050, and he has yet to visit Wellington, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Poverty Fay, Nelson, and Marlborough, and expects to reach the ,£20,000 mark. Canterbury's response totalled about i' 5500.
