KHANDALLAH DEBATING SOCIETY

At the weekly meeting of tbo above society, hold on Tuesday ovonmg, Mr. George Hogben, M.A., 0.M.6., delivored a lecture on "Earthqualws." Mr. Hogben gavo a very interesting address, aud by the nse of. a series of kntorn slides illustrated the various, effects of scismolcgical disturbances. Tbo lecturer also showed how, by different means, the centre of disturbance can be accurately located, and how the disturbance can bo just as i;icourately predicted. He also dealt with faults caused by earthquakes, and particularly the ono running along the coast, of California. This was of particular interest owing .to the'comparatively Tecent upheaval in San Francisco. At the conclusion of tho lecture a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Hogbon.
