FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications aro for Btrone, but , decroasips south-oast winds, veering to increasing northorlios Bhortly, northwards of Westport and Kaikoura, and strong easterlies to northerly winds elsewhere. Expect cold and changeable weather generally, and Equally conditions, with hoavy showers in the northern and East Coast districts of tho North Island, though a. brief temporary improvement may bo expected soon. Barometer rise, but fall again after 24 hours. ' . Atmospheric pressure has increased everywhere, but is still below normal in tho far north. South-easterly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed, and tho weather has been cold and unsettled, with rain generally. Floods have occurred in tho north-east portion of the South Island. • ' 'D. 0..
