London, September 11. Sir Douglas Hate's dispatch mentions, among others, the following incident "indicating the general nature of the work": "At Poux, a Now Zealand n.c.0., on August 24, swam tho river, and after reconnoitring for five and a half hours, found a raft on which he returned. Later, he led a patrol across and surprised a German post, killing the occupants, and returning safely/—Aus.-!N.Z. Cable Assn.-Router. 1
