THE SEAMEN'S DISPUTE
CREWS TO BE PAID OFF. The crews. on all of the small coastal vessels ill port will bo paid off to-day, as no settlement between the parties is in 61 fhe Taintiii which left for Lyttelton on Saturday night; 'returned yesterday morning, and left again in the evening for Lyttelton. This is the only coastal vessel outside; the Union Compan/s service to leave this port since Friday, and now eighteen steamers ar6 ly»g.> d ' e - The Putiki is duo to-day nui, and it is not likely that sTio voll sail to-night. The vessel was to have come from Oamaru to. Wol ington and then gone to Wanganui, but she. sailed direct for Wanganui. The coastal boats at other New Zea land ports are not affected, and it i? on,y when vessels call at Wellington that the seamen refuse duty. In respect lo this if is interesting to noto.that the xnver cUlir a regular Wollington-Wanganm traL, is at present m car^uie cement between AYanganm.and TaraioM, and is iu no way affected by tho demands of the seamen. , Half of the mghteen boats held up at Wellington could in . the ordinary course of events have made two completeJn_lK during the time they have been tied up owing to the dispute. Besides being; a great loss financially to the companies and tho men, tho delay seriously affecting some country trartespeople. . ■ ■
