OUR CASUALTIES
DEAD NUMBER 81G1. "The casualtfcs in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force' up to and including September 3 numbered 30,127," said tho Minister of Defence in U\e Bouse of Representatives yesterday. "Thia total comprises 84G1 men killed in action, died of nounds, or died of disease, 48 missing, 97 prisoners of war, and 21,521 wounded." ~ , ~ , ~ The Minister added that tho men ro turned to New Zealand up to the end ot August numbered 11,193. Of thia number 9466 men had been discharged or gazetted.out of the forces, 1260 *ad Teturned to duty at the front, 136 were awaiting ttieir return to duty, 281 were in hospital or homes 246 were outpatients, 30 were on sick leave, 19 wero on special leave, 14 had died, 5 had deserted, and ono had got into prison. .
