ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. / Wanganui, September 10. A man named G. Warburton, aged about 50 years, attempted suicide by cutting his throat early this morning. The wound 16 not dangerous. The man arrived from Palmerston North a few days ago. ACCIDENTALLY POISONED. ' Auckland, September 10. Margaret Davis, 31 years of age, residing with her husband at Remuera, died at tho hospital, presumably from having taken spirits of salts in mistako for medicine.
.WATERSIDE WORKER FOUND DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland,. September 10. William Al'oorkead, a.waterside worker, aged 65. was found drowned in tho harbour. Thero is no evidence to indicate how the fatality occurred. Ho had boon missing since Wednesday.
An inquest was held at tho Hospital yesterday afternoon by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.JL, concerning the death of Mary .fames, aged 32, a married woman, who had been living apart from her husband. According to the ovidonce thit woman was received at tho Terrace Gaol at noon on-Monday, Soptomber 3, when she was found to bo suffering from the effects of alcohol. Sho was attended by the gaol surgeon, Dr. Gilmer, and on the following Wednesday she was removed to the Hospital, when it was discovered sho was subject to epileptic convulsions. She gradually became worse, and died at (i p.m. on Saturday last. After hearing the evidence tho Coroner's verdict was that death was due to epileptic convulsions.
