In South Canterbury, says "Agricola," in the "Farmers' Advocate," utterance hns been, given to a grievance that is felt all over the Island if not all over tho Dominion This is in regard to the i,inhibition that Las been placed on the buyers of skins and hides in connection with tho purchase of oddments of wool. These men are granted a liceSce to purchase skins,'but nothing is said about wool. Host of them have rjeep buying ■up oddments,.and nothing was said ai>out it. A few days ago, however, .an announcement was made that no wool was to bo sold except-to the Government buyers direct. This, of course, cut tho local men cut of their business, fmall as it was, at once. The object of the notico, I suppose, was to avoid a repetition of tho muddle that took place last season when tlio wool was commandeered. It will be remembered that tho vool buyers lmd already got to work and had bought up a good many clips. But the Gazette notico hit the skin and oddmetit buyer who was doing quite'a legitimate, :i iiot necessary, business. It is understood that the Government is going to ifigvo way on this matter, and a very good thing, too. It is very- handy lo have tho local skin buyor come round and buy hitics.. skins, crutcnmgs," Bead wool, and thi> leavings of the shearing. The b.urer is usually a practical man, an'd" lio «sn sort and class tho stuff up from several farms and offer it in a better form than tho farmer himself would be able to do. He cannot get away with the wool.. He must sell to tho Government, and there does not seem to be any reason therefore why ho should be debarred from buying.

In changeable weather take NAKOL on sugar or by inhalation. Best safeguard against chills. One dose a day keeps colds away. Is. 6d. buys 60 doses.—Advt.
