The King's Guest gelding My Pal. who has fallen in his last two races, is.stated to be a perfect tsneer in private. Ho is endowed with a lot of pace, and may do better in- his next public meeting. Hushabye was noticed finishing very fast in the Railway Handicap at Marton, and the Achilles mare, who is new trained by J.- Brown at Hawera. should improve on this performance at Dannevirke next week. The National Steeplechase winner Maater Strowan has now won four steeplechases on end. Hie owner, Mr. 1\ S. Easton, has entered him for the principal flat race at Otaki, but as he also has Master Moutoa engascd. the latter may carr.V tho Foxton owner's colours, while Maetet Strowan will so into retirement. The Now Zealand soldiers in France arc supplied with a newspaper twice monthly giving the latest news from the Dominion. One of the lads writes to say that a recent addition contained two pages of all the racing results at the Easter. Meetings, and. tho news was very welcome.
,T 'W Lowe sent Matilda and Mascot homo after the Marton Meeting, but Coalitiou was railed on to Dannevirke. and will race there on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. The local trainer J. M'Lauglilin took The Golfer and Bairnsdale to the Marton Meeting, but neither succeeded in winning a race. Bairnsdale was well fancied for the Railway Jlandicao, in which lie ran a eood raco, but was not class enough. Tho Golfer got a very bad passage in the Tutaenm Welter, and was one of. tne last to finish. Mr. 0. J. Carlyon has been appointed secretary to the Wairarapa Racing. Club. There were about twenty applicants for the position. '
