Chief 'Detective M'Mahon stated that tho defendant, who was a farmer from Mareretn, near Waipu, had been under surveillance and hud been found to be circulating the letter mentioned. When his house was searched a quantity of literature of the fiery kind usually associated with I.W.W. people was found. Mr. FrazeY, S.M., after porusing the document, remarked that it missed its intention if it did not interfere with recruiting, and said he qould not see any difference between this case and others of the kind that )ind been before him. Defendant was sentenced to eleven months' imprisonment without hard labour.
