Mr. 1 , . W. Jackson appeared for the M'Gills, who wore each granted bail in £25. and one surety of £25.. Loyshon Williams, convicted of assaulting Minnie Hayvico. was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, and for using obscene- language in tho presence of some Birls, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, the terms to be cumulative. Accused stated he was drunk at the time, and had no recollection of the affair. Convicted of beiupc an idle and disorderly person, in that he was found beeging alms in Taranaki Street, Thomas Smith was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Joseph Collins, a half-caste Maori lad, pleaded guilty to the theft of a pair of trousers and a sinclet, valued at Us., the property of .Tames Gray. The uoods were sold to a. second-hand dealer for 2s. Hβ was convicted and ordered to come n.p for sentence when called upon, and was ordered to refund tbc money to the secondhand dealer. For insobriety Thomas Mo ran vraa fined £5, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, and William Patterson' was fined £3. with the ■ alternative of seven days' imprisonment. Two first offenders were each fined 205., with the option of ecrvins forty-eight hours in ftaol.
