SUCCESS OF THE WAR LOAN

At a lato hour last evening the Minister of Finance was able to give the first definite indication o£ if,ho success of his big War Loan. Twelve millions worn asked for as a first instalment, and something like sixteen millions have been forthcoming. It is a splendid result, and we congratulate Sir Joseph Ward and all associated with him iri the flotation of the loan. The publicity campaign was admirably conducted, and t(ie public generally have responded in a manner never equalled here, and ccrtainly to an extent which a year or two back would have seemed impossible. With sixteen of the twenty-two millions in hand the National Government can lodk forward with confidence to securing the balanco when occasion calls,
