The approaching spring venture of the Marton Racing Club should turn out a
financial success for the club, for owners are providing £500 10s. towards the 1270 | sovereigns allotted for stake distribution. The Gisborne trainer, W. Olive, arrived j at Marton on Thursday last with the ! horses Tatimi and Glucion. Tho latter is very well, and is expectcd to show lip'at the meeting. This month there will bo only eight days' racing. This is ten lees than thcro i was in tho same month last year. Mr. F. Matilda, who is to go to Marton 10-dojr, for the Trial Stakes on Wednesday, caiuy beat Mascot over four furloncre m 52 seconds. Bonny "Staid was too good for The Golfer over . six furlongs ran in Imjn. 19sec. Ba-im&dale and Mystic Lijjit set out for a five-furlone trial, but Uio former jumped away "in front, and his companion, ttalh going on well at the finish, could not rcach him. The time was Imm. 4scc. Bhiegowu and Pertolo finished together at tho end of four furlongs which took JOsec. Both mares galloped well. Ohakwana was stretched out .over Eto furlongs, tho last half-mile taking 51sec.
