HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Milner and Storey, fresh from the English music-halls, continue to provide a bright and clever contribution to tho current bill at His Majesty's Theatre. The ever-popular Violet Trevenyon is another performer who is in no small measure responsible for the big houses th"' assemble nightly. Supporting artists are:—Carlton and Sutton, Balto, the Bunty Comedy Company, Ford and l'errin. the Molinaris, and Laurence Johnston, the ventriloquist. THE ENGLISH PIERHOTS. To-night, at the. Concert Chamber, the English Pierrots will initiate their return season, which is limited to a few nights only. A special feature will be the variety of new musical sketches and numbers introduced, many being tho very latest from England. The concerted work, which has always been a featuro of this form of entertainment, has been carefully arranged, and the costuming is bright and picturesque. Frederick Warde. as the hero, is seen in a double rolo. He enacts the part of a confiding, good-natured old clerk, who is exactly like a rascally sharebroker, John Hinton. The latter persuades Jflsniia. to impersonate hiin, and servo the sentence in gaol which he has earned, promising to pay Joshua's daughter an income to keep her in luxury. The scoundrel breaks the bargain, and leaves the girl, to destitution. Tho rest of tho story is full of dramatio surprises, and contains a strong love story. "Clover's Rebellion" is claimed to be one of tho very best of the dainty brunette «Tes. It is a story of «, love that breaks through all convention, and defeats the barbarous .schemes of money-crazed relations, by which they hope to sell tho beautiful heiress to the highest bidder. The cast includes the new leading man ol the Vitagraph studios, Rudolph Cameron. The settings are said to bo unique for their luxury and splendour. <&»*»*. m "Tho Rink," is said to bo a great laughteiraiser. EMPRESS THEATRE. Ethel Clayton makes a return to the ween ill the powerful World film .drama, "The Stolen Paradise," the star feature to be screened at tho Empress Tnea-tae to-, day. The plot is said to be full pf intense dramatic moments. . The here Mward Langford. loses his sight rescuing a mercenary beauty whom ho .odoies. blie cannot be bothered with him. and pelsuades Joan to impersonate her and many him. The .setting; is lavish, most of the scenes taking place w the society circles of Kw lorl. „ The eighth episode of "The Iron, Ota*, entilled "At the Stroke of Twelve, is also on this programme. WELLINGTON TRAMWAY ENTERTAINERS. The Tramway Entertainers will ,Eive» concert this evening at St. Thomas 1 1 Hall, Newtown, for the benefit of Mrs. Ncuenberg and family. The last concert by the above entertainers was given on July 25 by special request, as the rcsu t of tho success at previous concerts. Ibe funds raised by the request concert wcro used to buy new costumes. So with a complete change of programme patrons at this evening's entertainment should be assured of a good evening's enjoyment. SUNDAY CONCERT. Among the principal items to be rendered bv the Professional Orchestra to-morrow evening at His Majesty's Theatres arc the ever-welcome overture to "William Ml _ (Rossini), a fantasia on Yerdis and Friedemann's "Slavonic Rhapsody. A local citizen has presented to the society tho complete parts of Beethoven s beautiful "King , Stephen" Overture, and this composition will be performed for the hrst time in Wellington. Tho rehearsals have shown it to be. a welcome addition to the orchestra's repertoire. Other items will bo the "Entry of the Boyards" (Halvorsen) and a "Pmicati" by Math©. A silver com collection will be taken up at the doors.
