PARTY POLITICS IN ENGLAND

THE NEW LLOYD GEORGE PARTY

PROGRAMME OUTLINED

London, August 30. There is • much curiosity in political circles as to tho- aims of (he newlyfledged political parties. The Lloyd George Party remains a comparative mystery, unlike the National Party, whose supporters are mainly Unionists and Tariff .Reformers. The party's manifesto, however, does not refer to tho tariff, but urges a vigorous war policy, the eradication of German influence, the abolition of the sale of honours, the establishment of unity and confidence between employers and employed, unity of the Empire in council and defence and: in the development of the Empire's resources, and improved social conditions. Tho manifesto denounces the ivorn-out party system, with its "ruthless machines," and alleges that the public are universally complaining 'qf the Govern, mont's lack of moral "courage. The twenty-seven signatories to the manifesto include 6ix peers and six members of the House of Commons. It is generally considered that tho formation of any new parties will not assist in tho effective conduct of the -war.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Aran.
